First Principles Thinking
Break a problem down to its most basic parts. Build back up from there.
How to use it. Save it for genuinely new problems or stuck arguments. Most decisions do not need it.
How it gets misused. Used as a flex. "From first principles" often means "I would like to ignore everything that has been done before."
