Kernighan's Law
Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code. So if you write it as cleverly as you can, you cannot debug it.
How to use it. Write at half your maximum cleverness. Leave room for the future debugger, who is you, tired, at 11pm.
How it gets misused. Used to refuse all sophistication. The rule is about needless cleverness.
