The Five Ideals
Five conditions for an effective software organisation. Locality and simplicity. Focus, flow, and joy. Improvement of daily work. Psychological safety. Customer focus.
How to use it. Use the list to audit your own organisation. Which of the five does this place actually deliver? Where it falls short, work backwards to the system that prevents the ideal.
How it gets misused. Treated as a transformation roadmap. The ideals are conditions, not steps. You cannot install "joy" or "psychological safety". They emerge from systems designed to support them, and fail to emerge from systems that prevent them.
